Greek, Bronze Votive Bovine Amulet, Geometric, c. 7th - 6th Century B.C.
Geometric bronze animal figures were popular votive offerings from the mid to late 8th century B.C. in a number of Greek sanctuaries, notably at Olympia. Bronze bulls were probably symbolically offered in place of actual animals.
