|Holyland| |Crusaders|, |Crusaders,| |Acre,| |Kingdom| |of| |Jerusalem,| |13th| |Century| |A.D.|, In 1192, Saint-Jean d'Acre (Akko), the final stronghold of the Crusader state, became the capital of the remnant of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. In 1229, it was placed under the Knights Hospitaller. In 1291, Acre fell in a bloody siege to the Mameluks of Egypt led by al-Ashraf Khalil. Similar lead tokens have been found at Acre hoarded alongside silver and copper coinage.
