Happiness and fortune wouldn't last for Marius. According to the ancient written sources, Marius was began his military career as a blacksmith and he was killed by a sword of his own manufacture after a reign of only two or three days. However, based upon the number of coins he issued, a more accurate length for his reign would be at least two or three months.
