Valerian I, October 253 - c. June 260 A.D., Samos, Islands of Ionia
Samos is the birthplace of Pythagoras. A famous attraction on the island is the tunnel-aqueduct dug through a mountain to bring water to the city from a secret spring. An engineering marvel over 1000m long, it was dug from both ends by two teams working simultaneously and used for a very long period.
