My babies
« on: November 08, 2014, 12:44:46 pm »
Hello to all,

my name is nummis durensis, but you can call me Rainer  ;)

A collector of Roman coins since a few years. When I was young (*lol* I feel still young but I mean 25 years ago) I found the way to my first roman coins. Unfortunately I sold my first small collection later, and - of course - I still regret this.

Now I try to build up a new collection since a few years - especially the eastern denarii of Septimius Severus & Co. and coins of Plautilla and also other women.

My motto: Better I collect some coins exactly than much of more (I know this is not good english... In german I would say: "Lieber sammele ich von wenigem etwas genaues, als von vielem etwas")

During the day I am busy with german judgement, so my english is bad.  :-\

Feel free to contact me and tell me when I am wrong with the description of my coins... or with others.

Regards,
Rainer

Welcome Rainer, your English is fine.

You may want to put a link to your gallery in your signature so that we can all find it easier.  We look forward to seeing your coins.

A rare and interesting coin of Plautilla which combines the 'Pietas'-reverse with an older hairstyle-avers.  ;D

Again I got an interesting Plautilla... so I hope  8)

The hairstyle (hair waved with free ear / Hill: Li) is only known with the Pietas-Revers. This is the first coin I see with this hairstyle-type on avers comes with the Venus Victrix on reverse.

Not a beauty, but rare...  :)

Septimius Severus
Denarius
Laodicea ad mare (?) - old style
196 n.Chr.
Av.: L SEPT SEV PE-RT AVG IMP VIII - laureate head right
Rev.: ARAR(sic!) AD-I-ABENIC, Victory walking left, holding wreath in right hand, palm in left.
3,28 Gr., 12 h die axis
RIC -
SEV-134 Barry P. Murphy Coll. (Var.)

But see RIC 466! Sure is IMP VII missreading!
