FORVM-Is there an App for that?
« on: November 11, 2012, 01:37:11 pm »
Dear Joe, et al,

I just got an iPhone and one of the things I'd like to use it for is to access FORVM from anywhere at any time.

Is there an app for that?

Thanks!

Regards,
mz

Does an iphone not allow you to just go to a website?

Andreas,

Yes, I can do that. In fact, it's open right now.

However, an app might be nice to streamline the process of getting there in addition to looking very cool on the desktop :)

You can save FORUM's home page, or the discussion group page, directly on your iPad or iPhone home page. I have. Here's how:

It will look just like an app icon.

Pete,

I thank you! It worked like a charm.

However, the graphic looks like a clip of the page. Is there a way to make it like the FORVM logo (top left of this page)?

Thanks again!

Regards,
mz

EDIT: OK, further reading lets me know that you can essentially modify the look of the icon. Working on that now. mz

2nd EDIT: Done! :)

Hi Pete!

Before you hit the button to save to your home screen, just adjust what you see on your smartphone screen by resizing.

Viola!

(I got that from the link you sent along :) )

mz

EDIT: However, I just noticed that the icon does not stay the same and will change as you navigate around the FORVM site :(

Maybe Sorin could come up with a downloadable icon for the desktop? mz
