Hi,

Just added a couple of "middle bronzes" to my Diverse Roman gallery here on Forum, including one for my buildings collection:

Domitian 81-96 AD
AE as
Obv "IMP CAES DOMITIAN AVG GERM COS X"
Laureate bust right, aegis on shoulder
Rev "SALVTI AVGVSTI SC"
Tetrastyle altar precinct with closed doors
Rome mint
RIC 224

Trajan Decius 249-51 AD
AE as
Obv "IMP C M Q TRAIANVS DECIVS AVG"
Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right
Rev "GENIVS EXERC ILLVRICIANI"
Genius standing left holding patera over altar, and standard and cornucopia
Rome mint
RIC 118b

Regards,

Mauseus

Hi,

Thanks Jay. I was a little disappointed when I flipped the coin over to reveal the obverse in the dealer's tray. But I do like the reverse "in hand".

Regards

Mauseus

The reverse of that Domitian is great! However, I also see quite a bit of charm in the portrait. I am also a sucker for Domitian portraits that incorporate the Aegis. I only have one Domitian denarius with Aegis but I would love to have more.
