Hello Friends,

Some of you may be aware of a website called Coinproject.com.  It is a very ambitious website, our goal is to eventually have a record of all coins from the earliest coins ever struck to modern, from every corner of the globe.  Since the founders of the website are both specialists in ancient coins, we started there first.  We are now working on creating the Medieval section of Coinproject.  You will see that much of it is already finished, but one area where we are severely lacking is Medieval French numismatics.

We are looking for a volunteer (or several) to help us create the French lists, from the end of the Roman empire thru the unification of France.  Once the lists are created, all coins submitted must then be approved and verified by our experts (we already have over 100 volunteers), which requires researching individual coins to make sure all the information is correct.

Since I specialize in ancient coins, I have no references for French Medieval coins.

Thanks,

Hi Tom,

CoinProject is a great idea, and a great realization already.
I sincerely hope many french collectors will join and help the building of a comprehensive site of reference.
Being not specialized in french coinage myself I can't be of any help creating such lists. The only area I could be of some use would be the Dombes coinage. For that one I volunteer in case you need.

Hi JC,

Thank you for your offer, I will certainly contact you once the French section is completed.  I'm about a third of the way thru the Germany list now and will probably start on French after that.

Can you recommend any books for me to create the lists?  I know it needs to be separated into Feudal and Provincial, beyond that, I don't know much.

If you know anyone who'd like to help, please send them my way.

Bonjour,

http://numismatique-medievale.blogspot.com/2007/08/poey-davant-enfin-numris-ou-presque.html

http://vso.numishop.eu/boutique1.php?boutique=vso_mo&catalogue=22&phase=
