Where are people keep their coins?
« on: November 27, 2010, 12:01:37 am »
The recent discussion on coin display cases has made me wonder where people keep their coins.  Except for a few very inexpensive coins, mine are in a safe deposit box.  This, of course, keeps fondling and study limited.   :-[

Do other people keep their coins at home in a safe?

A safe's a little too obvious; I hide mine in plain sight. Ever read 'The Purloined Letter', by Edgar Allen Poe?

Mr. B.,

That's a good idea! I have a bunch of common LRBs that I mounted and framed, and which hang by the front door. I never thought that I could pawn those off as 'my collection' but now I know what to do in case of a robbery ;)

Thanks for that!

EDIT-- I thought better of it when I posted, then couldn't get back to a computer.  By the time I did, others had already posted my thoughts.  Guess mine are finding a new spot.  ;D

I don't think it's a good idea to post such information on a public board.

I was thinking the same thing.

And that is why I never answer this type of thread. Why should where I keep my coins be of any concern to anyone?

Alex.

I keep my coins in a sinkhole on Oak Island.

I had to Google that:

"Oak Island is a 140-acre (57 ha) island in Lunenberg County on the south shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. Oak Island is noted as the location of the so-called Money Pit, a site of numerous excavations to recover treasure believed by many to be buried there. The island is privately owned, and advance permission is required for any visitation. Several documented treasure recovery attempts have found layers of apparently man-made artifacts as deep as 31 meters, but ended in collapsed excavations and flooding. Critics argue that there is no treasure and that the pit is a natural phenomenon, likely a sinkhole".
