Hi all,
I am very happy, because starting from the idea that the Texan friend cmcdon showed us, I finally made build the cabinet for my collection of ancient coins.
Has a capacity for 1350 coins (Almost the double the quantity that I possess at the present time), to fill their capacity will take me many many years.  ;D
Here I show you some pictures.
Greetings
Mario

Very nice work Mario! Well done!

You would be stuck if you had a Ptolemaic coin of 41mm though! ;D

Yes Gaius, you are right but I don't believe to have the luck to get some coin of that size. :'(
Anyway I believe that 99.99% of the ancient coins are of smaller size. ;)

Hi cmcdon,
I thank you again to have shown me your cabinet, you had a very good idea.
It is very difficult for my to give you the specifications, due to my limitations in the English language, but I will try.
The total measures of the piece of furniture are 510 mm wide, 400 mm of high and 560 mm deep.
Has 15 trays with 90 holes (40 mm of diameter) each, that makes a total capacity of 1350 coins
The trays have 430 mm wide and 520 mm deep. They are carried out with two pieces of MDF (one of them perforated) and an intermediate cloth of velvet. All this  veneered totally with oak and then treaty with colorless acrylic lacquer.
I wait you have understood my poor explanation  :-[, any doubt asks me.

Your description comes across just fine.....

The cabinet is a little over 20 inches wide by 16 inches high by 22 inches deep.

The trays are about 17 inches wide by 21 inches deep. with holes just ober 1-1/2 inches wide.

Mine are 12 inches wide, by 10 inches deep, by 8-1/2 inches tall, and each contain 12 trays.  The trays have either 28 holes of 1.25 inches (31+mm) or 20 holes of 1.5 inches (38mm).   So each cabinet can hold a minimum of 240 coins, a maximum of 336 coins, or somewhere in between if you mix and match trays of the two hole sizes as I did on mine.

I purposely built them not to be too large, both so I could fit it on my bookshelf, and so it would fit inside many brands of home safes should someone want to keep it in one.  I personally don't as it doesn't hold my main collection....that's in a bank safe deposit box.....but I keep a lot of lesser value coins at home just to "play with".

That is beautiful Mario! Great job! In my minds eye I was wondering how to do the slide rails, but your nice pics have answered that! Thanks for posting. :)

Excellent idea....having the cabinet double as the side table to your chair !!!!!

Although hopefully the ashtray doesn't mean that you smoke while looking at the coins ?!?  The smoke residue can't be good for the coins....or your lungs for that matter, but let us not go down that road.

Hi cmcdon,
When I work with the coins I take the tray that interests me to the desk, but when I read  regrettably I smoke and that is my ashtray.   :-\
