Thanks for the kind words

Here are four new entries from the last days :

A Marcus Aurelius sestertius with a magnificent patina, RIC #1090 :  https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-137535

A Gordianus III antoninianus of the better style, RIC # 2 : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-137565

A somewhat worn and broken, yet pleasant, antoninianus of Gallienus with centaur reverse, RIC # 163 : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-137564

An humble VRBS ROMA, but from the Lyon mint and with incuse letters from the obverse on reverse, RIC #257 : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-137563

Very nice additions.

Re the Marcus Aurelius, does the lighter green patina match those lighter green splotches on the face and neck on the obverse, or is simply due to lighting.

I agree re the Gallienus, I think it is the colour, but pleasing overall on the eye despite the flan being broken.

Thanks Q and Pete
In hand the light green is less visible, the lighting enhances it.

Hi friends,

Here's my new entry, a 4th type Nemausus crocodile. I already had one and a half of them, but couldn't pass that one, the style on portraits being so good to my eyes

Best to you all

Thanks guys,

My first entry for 2018 is a quadrigatus. I've always wanted to add one but didn't get the opportunity to until now.

Hi friends.

A long and fun story comes to an end : I've been chasing the Trajan Decius Divi series for 18 years now, and just happened to get the 22nd and last to have a complete set (apart from minor variations as to legend or drapery and such). Anyway the 22 main types are here, with eleven emperors honored with either altar and eagle.

The last added : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-149796

The virtual tray showing the whole series : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-149795

Hi all,

Quite a while since I added a provincial. Here is a bronze minted at Serdica, Tharce for Caracalla, privately acquired from a dear friend of mine, which adds an emotional value to the beauty and interest of the coin itself : the Aegis on Caracalla's left shoulder is to die for !!

New RR denarius added :

Hello friends.

Sometimes a coin type is so common that one always thinks time will come when they will find the right one....and time flies and they still don't have it.

The L Calpurnius Piso Frugi Appolo/horseman is one of those. Although I've been collecting ancient for 40 years, I never found myself ready for one

Here it is now, with decent centering and wear, and a wonderful tone. I love it : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-155187

The horseman is som much in a rush it seems he's going to jump out of the flan :D

Enjoy
JC
