Thanks Martin. A great job!

The last two pieces (L.Procilius and anonymous in the style of Gargilia) I have not reported to eBay. I have not seen them before and generally don't like to make calls just from photo's unless they are already established as fakes from identical pieces or held in the hand (I've put together a collection of 30 or so of these fakes).

I have been hammering eBay about the republican fakes and am restricting myself to indisputable fakes so the issue is not clouded. I will be away for a few days and will investigate these two pieces when I get back. It is always possible he has salted his fakes with a genuine piece or two, the opposite to what most crooks do.

If anyone has any comment on the two pieces I would appreciate hearing from you.

In the meantime, I hope everyone and his dog will complain to eBay about the definite fakes. The volume of overall fakes being sold by this crook may be the best chance to force eBay to actually do something. It could hardly be more blatant.

I am informed by eBay that they forward these fake complaints to the ANA for judgement (via a reference group) and then may either warn the seller, cancel the auction or, suspend the seller. This is obviously completely inadequate to deal with a crook like batibaleno. There is no mention of restitution to the defrauded collectors and by the time the process is carried out the auction is well over.
Every day I know less and less about more and more. Soon I expect to know nothing about everything.

I have had contact with someone who bought fakes from batibaleno. Although he is listed as being a seller in the UK, the coins were sent from Bulgaria.

If this news surprises any of you, please contact me. I have some shares you will want to buy.

This is a common problem since people's IDs and addresses are not verified by ebay and it is all based on trust. And batibaleno is obviously untrustworthy.
