Historia numorum: Italy
« on: April 08, 2021, 05:43:24 am »
Does anyone have Historia Numorum: Italy by N.K. Rutter? Pdf or paper.

The book gets weird prices on Amazon or Ebay when it is available (but it isn't:))

Yes, I have it.  I don't know what you mean by weird prices.  I don't have a camera, if you want a citation I can look it up.

Yes, Amazon prices can be unrealistic at times.
If you look on Wildwinds you might be able to find a reference you can then cross check. HN Italy is a fairly generic reference though, much like the new HGC series. There are many more specific catalogs you might want to check, depending on the coin.

Maybe Forum has a copy.  If not, any of the specialist numismatic booksellers might have it.  I'd certainly go to one of them before Amazon!

You might look at specialty numismatic booksellers.
Bibliographical information is thus:

Historia Numorum, Italy
Principle Editor N.K. Rutter
The British Museum Press
2001 The Trustees of the British Museum
ISBN 0 7141 1801 X

not to be confused with earlier Historia Numorum.
I seem to remember a price tag of US$ 90.
$1300 is fishing.

Availability of that work, Historia Numorum Italy, is spotty.  I paid US$100, including postage and taxes, in Dec. 2017. I found it at a U.S. bookstore using one of the bookstore aggregators, Alibris or Abe Books.

Sometimes sellers temporarily put high prices as placeholders when an item is not available so no one tries to purchase but they can keep the listing 'live' until one turns up and then just reset the price to normal.  Likely the seller with the $1300 price is not anticipating any buyers. But... you never know :)

I'll restart the thread. Has HN Italy appeared anywhere in an online/PDF version?
