« on: March 19, 2021, 05:08:46 am »
Hello everyone ,here is one seal ring unfortunatly broken  :'(found by me few years ago.I asume date is 5-6 century AD
Is this monogram stand for the owner of the ring or it is some standartized monogram ( like ''God bless imperator'' ) .Anybody  have more information about this monograms?Could this be  some state oficial's ring ,like comander of some small fort for example ? Any comments are welcome

Hi. This is a widely used monogram invoking the Theotokos (Mother of God) for aid. It solves ΘEOTOKE BOHΘEI. There is no additional information, so no way of knowing who owned the ring. The date is likely a century later, 6th-7th century.
Regards
Gert
