First coin!

Hi all!

Today the postman arrived with the first coin of my collection, I hope you will enjoy it as I do!

Thrace, Mesembria
3rd-2nd c. BC
AE 19 mm 7.26 g axis 12
O: diademed female head right.
R: Athena Promachos standing left, hurling spear and holding shield, METAM/BPIANΩN
BMC Greek 133/8

A very impressive start to a collection. A great example of the type and it even includes the Archaic letter sampi in the legend/ethnic; a letter that attracted much heated discussion in another recent thread!

Could you please give me the link to the thread? I'm trying to date the coin more precisely, and I have the feeling that the sampi letter could help me, though  i'm afraid that is not my field.
