AE10 Apollwnophanes from Erythrae
« on: September 05, 2020, 04:48:33 pm »
This handsome little Helios, AE11, 1.31g, from Erythrae, Ionia, 3rd c. BC (based on better-known issues), is signed by a virtually unknown Apollwnophanes, not mentioned in Isegrim, mentioned just once in Muensterberg, Vienna 35114. Any notion of where or how I could access that Vienna coin and / or additional Apollwnophanes reports? Thanks for any / all leads!

Many thanks for this, Shanxi; those cataloguers needed to check Muensterberg!

This magistrate is also described in J. G. Milne, "Notes on the Oxford collections: (3) Ionia", NC Vol. 17, No. 67 (1937), page 167 number 17:

Unfortunately the Oxford collection seems to be a bit behind with the digitization of their collection (as Vienna is also), so we cannot see it online  :-\.
