Super Titus Sestertius COTD

This Titus has an old collection patina. It was not really cheap but it is an eye-catcher.

Do you have a RIC number? I cannot find this variant.

Apparently an unpublished variant of RIC T 144, with PVBLICA instead of PVBLIC.

From the RIC 2,1 A&C:

"144 fn. 18  --  ... Elberling (p.168, to C.165 [1st ed.]) reported PVBLICA in his collection, “as Vienna”: not illustrated but plausible."

Nice find!

Alberto

This reverse is listed RIC II (D) 130, with different obverse legend:

Nice coin!  I'll check the Adenda to see if it's in there.

The Addenda says the same thing Pekka quoted from the RIC footnote:

"144 fn. 18 -- Engraver’s error: IMP P CAESAR, seen on eBay, 6/2016.
Elberling (p.168, to C.165 [1st ed.]) reported PVBLICA in his collection, “as Vienna”: not illustrated but plausible."

I would send a picture to Carradice so that it can be included.

Another excellent coin to add to your outstanding collection kc.

And it seems a rare variety as well. Congratulations.
