Greek coin??
« on: December 21, 2019, 06:38:55 pm »
My husband found this in some of his old things and while I’m sure it some sort of replica or something (?) I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this coin (or what it might be based on?) internet searches only brought me to one old and expired eBay-type listing from a random person with no information on the coin itself. TIA

Please give us size and weight while asking for an identification.

But this coin looks like a fake to me. The reverse with this winged female is from coins from Kaunos:
https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?term=winged+female+kaunos&category=1&en=1&de=1&fr=1&it=1&es=1&ot=1&images=1&thesaurus=1&order=1&currency=eur&company=
but there you have no heads on the obverse.

Altamura is correct, this is a modern reproduction with a mismatched obverse and reverse., in short it is a fantasy piece.

Thanks so much everyone! I doubted it would have been a real coin since why in the world would we have found one in a random box of my husband's but it's still neat to see what it was kinda based on and all! Thanks again!

I did it, I think.  I would appreciate it if someone would check.  I am not tech-oriented.  My idea of technology pretty much stops at carbon paper.
