Busts of Lucius Verus and Severus in L'Hermitage
« on: September 22, 2019, 10:57:23 pm »
My wife and I took a vacation to St Petersburg a few weeks ago. Beyond the overwhelming amount of other art, the Hermitage Museum also has some very interesting Greek and Roman galleries. I thought the busts of Severus and Lucius Verus were particularly nice.

Thanks for the post lawrence.

The skill of the Romans in portraiture is always impressive to me.  The look on the face of Severus is one of a man accepting the responsibility of office, with no delusions whatever about what the personal cost will be.

Best regards,
Steve
