Heavy Macrinus
« on: September 20, 2019, 06:26:33 am »
I thought that I would share this example of Macrinus which seems very heavy for one of his denarii?

4.18g     18mm

IMP  C  M  OPEL  SEV  MACRINVS  AVG
Laureate bust right, cuirassed, seen from front.

ANNONA   AVG
Annona seated left on throne, holding three corn-ears and cornucopiae; at her feet, modius filled with corn-ears.

Rome AD 217-218     RSC: 8a     RIC: 56     BMC: 60
