Two Domitian AE gems from the Dattari Collection - RPC II online Plate Coins

Hello everyone.

It's always exciting to collect pieces from the Dattari collection.

Unfortunately, Domitian's Alexandrian coins are always very hard-fought and I hadn't been able to win them for a while.

Finally I managed to get a couple more, both in excellent "roman" style.

The hemidrachm, in particular, is truly amazing; but I also like very much the obol, whose reverse takes up a subject from the "pulvinar" denarii.

Both coins have already been chosen as plate coins in the RPC online.

Great catches Alberto! I agree with you. There is plenty of competition for these Dattari coins of Domitian. I just won one a few weeks ago. I do not think I have posted it. Like your coins it is on RPC online and it is a Dattari plate coin. In  fact mine is from the same auction! I am still waiting for it to arrive.

It's been three years now that most of the Dattari collection has been slowly dispersed and it never seems to end.

I wish I'll get some more!
