Replacing Gallery Photos
« on: July 07, 2019, 12:45:43 am »
I have some new, improved photos of several of my gallery coins.  Is there a simple way to replace gallery photos without having to delete and reenter the coin?  I know we can easily modify descriptions, but I see no easy way to swap-out photos. Thanks in advance for any help.

No, unfortunately members can't do this due to the limitations of the FORVM software. But you can easily change your photos by opening a couple of windows, uploading your new photo and cutting and pasting your information across from your original upload before you delete it. You will only lose any comments that way and it only takes a couple of minutes.

Thanks *Alex.  Too bad.  I was hoping to preserve views and comments.  Better quality photos are more important to the gallery objective, so I may have to bite the bullet.

I started a similar project not too long ago, replacing with better photos.   It's worth it, the better pics get more attention and are more useful to others using the galleries as a reference.  I still have a few more to do.

I was not aware that you could post more than one image per Gallery coin.  I'm wondering how Nemo accomplished this.

I’m happy to share exactly how this is done when I get back to my computer.  I believe I learned it from *Alex.  I created a separate gallery for the pictures I wanted to add then added the code for those images in the dialog box.

So this is how I do it:

1) Add the new picture to a forum gallery.
2) Right click on the picture and copy the image address
3) Edit the description of the coin where you want to add the new image.
4) Paste the image address within [img] [img] including the brackets with no spaces in between.

I think that should work.

You forgot the / within the brackets before the second img. i.e. it should be /img within the brackets. ;)

If you use a slightly different html tag (see below), you can also adjust the size of inserted image. No end tag necessary.
