Try "The Coinage of the Lycian League" by Hyla A. Troxell

It's online but the presentation is a little bit chaotic. Click on "Table of Contents" and it is a little bit more manageable

Yes, for the text the pdf is probably better, but many of the plates are crap.

If you use the ACS online version you can click on the plates to enlarge them. Not perfect, but better.

Hi zoser,

It may also be helpful if you get a hold of any of the auction catalogs from auction houses that sold pieces of the BCD collection, specifically the volumes that covered Olympos. I don't know if any of those auction catalogs (which make great reference books) are available online.

@Meepzorp

The BCD catalogs are auction catalogs. Several of them are included in acsearch. In the "Advanced search settings" of acsearch you can select a specific auction (e.g. one of the BCD auctions) and display all the lots, or search within.

I never heard that BCD also collected coins from Lycia.
We are talking here about Olympos in Lycia, not Olympia in Peloponnese  :).

Hi Alta,

Thank you for pointing that out. Your hunch is correct. I thought zoser was referring to Elis.

Zoser didn't specify a country in his original post. He also didn't post any photos. That was the source of my confusion.

I was wondering why you and shanxi posted links to Lycia coins. Now it makes sense. :)

After looking at Wildwinds, I now know that Lycia had a city by that name. I never knew those coins as "Olympos" coins. I've always known them as "Lycian league" coins.

The coins of the Lycian league have been minted by different cities being members. The name of the city in most cases is indicated by two letters on the coin:
Patara: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=5810124
Rhodiapolis: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=5295679
Myra: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=4799731
and so on,

or by the two districts Masikytes and Kragos
Masikytes: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=5802236
Kragos: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=1739340

With Olympos and Phaselis it is a bit different, they minted coins in nearly the same style during a time they probably have not been member of the league:
Olympos: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=3624835
Phaselis: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=5813829
