« on: April 25, 2019, 11:16:30 am »
Hello, im new to greek coins... loking here: http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/greece/sicily/syracuse/agathokles/t.html

O/ Wreathed head of Arethusa l.; three dolphins around; NI below neck. R/ Charioteer driving quadriga l.; triskeles above, AI monogram in exergue

I search the differences between the BMC 350.. SNG ANS 633...33.1...34...38...38.1 etc...
For me they are all same coins. Where is the difference?

SNG volumes are catalogues of collections, sometimes there are duplicates or variations of the same type.

Many (all?) of the SNG ANS examples are online, e.g. SNG ANS 633 and 634

Thanks. So they are all same? If i understand correclty, it is not a reference about a type but about coins list? Why wildwinds follow it and dont only put 1 photo and 1 number for each type?

I didn't check, but it can happen with SNG numbers. As mentioned, you can view and compare the SNG ANS specimens online.

Looking at my copy of SNG ANS, each of 633, 634, 638 and 639 have a different die-axis. For coins in between, 634 and 638, the symbol is unclear, e.g. off-flan.
