I have Samos and Samian Coins by Percy
Gardner (1882), in it, it has two
Roman Provincial/Greek Imperial coins that have poses of Pythagoras on them, but they only show one
side each for each coin. I was hoping that someone would have a picture of the coins, both sides. Also, since the book is 1882, the pictures are not the best. The description follows:
"Samos, V- Imperial, I.
Perinthus" 10 and 11.
p. 80.
15
Pythagoras seated, l., touch with wand globe on top of
column; in
his other hand
scepter.
Trajan Decius (B.M.) Pl. V 10.
Julia Mamaea.
16
Pythagoras standing l., touches wand globe on top of
column.
Commodus (Brera.) Pl. V 11.
If anybody knows of any additional Pythagoras coins from
Roman Provincial, I would much appreciate hearing about them. Also thanks in advance for any pictures of those described above. i also understand there are other philosophers and poets depicted around this time
Kind Regards,
John (JBF)
