Hello everyone!

I have seen that many other people post galleries with their coins in in the past, and I really enjoy scrolling down the list of collections seeing what everybody has managed to acquire. I am always amazed at the perfect, extremely rare coins that forvm users have managed to obtain. Although my collection is quite small and has basically no rarities compared to other collections, I hope that you will enjoy looking at them nevertheless.

I started collecting about 3 years ago, but it was only until late 2016/early 2017 that I started to collect roman coins. Even later still, I decided to specialize to collect antoniniani, because it represented a difficult time for the empire, and there are so many emperors to get coins of as a result (incidentally, I am trying to get an antoninianus of every emperor that issued one, although it'll get difficult when i have to get coins of Laelianus or Proculus!). Also, it is great to see the debasement of the coinage over a period of time, and to see what reforms the emperors may have done, successfully or otherwise, to rescue the quality of the coins.

Please bear in mind looking at my gallery that my budget is limited; I am quite a young collector and I have tried to obtain the best specimens I can for what funds I have available (up until recently, the most I had spent on a single coin was little over £20 - now it is £80!). Also, this isn't my full collection; The vast majority of my coins are still in those cardboard-envelopes-with-a-plastic-window-in things, so I haven't been able to get any good photographs of them for now (the plastic makes it very difficult to get a good photo), but I hope to move my collection to a tray/cabinet style soon, so I will try to upload pictures of them in the near future.

So, please check out my collection and enjoy!  ;D

I'm a huge fan of coins with animals, so my favourite is that sweet peacock example (it's a total winner)

Welcome to Forvm, Harry. All of us look forward to watching your collection grow.

By the way, there is no need to explain or apologize for the quality of the coins that you post. Unlike you, I am an old-er collector, yet most of the coins that I buy and post are inexpensive (I rarely spend the equivalent of 80 GBP on a coin, and quite a few of mine cost less than 20 GBP), and are not museum quality (although I do look with envy at the coins posted by others who evidently have collecting budgets greater than my own). Yet I get tremendous satisfaction from the collection and am always gratified when others appreciate my gallery.

That being said, your first five coins posted are quite nice and have attracted a lot of attention. Keep them coming. I once had most of my coins in cardboard flips with cellophane windows as well, but that is now largely a thing of the past. It took me ages to post the collection to the gallery, but I now try to keep current by posting new acquisitions reasonably contemporaneously (although I still fall behind).

By the way, these boards and the gallery are not limited only to Roman coins, although Roman and ancient Greek make up the vast majority. What were you collecting before you started collecting Romans? People here might have an interest in seeing some of those as well.

Wow, thanks for all the comments everybody; I really wasn't expecting this response! :)

Hopefully, I'll be able to upload the rest of my collection soon - in about a week or two (fingers crossed)!

@Stkp I don't think they'd really fit the gallery; I didn't specialize my collecting at all before I collected roman coins. I used to buy modern world lots of about 100-150 coins and then research them a little and put them in a coin album and then buy another lot to repeat the process. They are definitely not worth putting on forvm! ;D

Thanks again for all the support!

I have now added 5 more of my coins to my gallery. I'll try to upload a couple every few days or so until my whole collection is on forvm.

I hope you enjoy the new additions;D

Hello everyone!

I have added 3 more coins to my gallery; a nice antoninianus of Otacilia Severa and an antoninianus of Carausius and a quinarius of Allectus that I found in an uncleaned lot a short while back. The Otacilia Severa coin is a bit weird; it seems to be carefully cleaned just above the bust (and at the same point on the reverse), but uncleaned for the rest of the coin!

Carausius :arrowright: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-152767
Allectus :arrowright: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-152766

So, please enjoy!

Hello everyone,

I just bought an antoninianus of Aemilian - one of the coins I have wanted from when I started my roman collection! I bought this coin from an eBay seller (who I buy from occasionally), who was unlucky in listing it as Trajan Decius, not Aemilian; part of the reason why I was able to afford it! The coin (unfortunately) has somewhat rough surfaces, but I am very pleased to have it in my collection!

Here's a link to the coin in my gallery  :arrowright: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-153135

Hope you enjoy!

Hello everyone,

I have just added my antoninianus of Gordian III with FELICITAS TEMPORVM reverse. This was my very first antoninianus and silver coin I ever bought, and started off my 'proper' collection, letting me focus on one type of coin, rather than all coins generally!

Here's the link :arrowright: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-153408

I will try to add more coins this week, so stay tuned!  +++

Hello,

I have just added my antoninianus of Tetricus I. I quite like this coin; it is nicely toned on the obverse, and the portrait is in great condition, and Tetricus looks really tired! Because of this, I have added it to the portraits gallery as well (I hope it's worthy!)

Hello!

I have just added my antoninianus of Numerian, with a nice desert patina. Unfortunately, there is some deposit on the reverse, but it is still quite nice.
