Most of Ottoman coins have hole, i guess they would put them on wire and carry them like that.
Imagine it like proto wallet :D

They were frequently sewn to/hung from women's clothing and headdresses. This was common throughout the Ottoman world.  For example you can see coins sewn to clothing used in pictures from early 20th century Bosnia or Jordan.
