I have added a wonderful example of  SBCV-2154  a hard to find coin in superb condition. I have added to my gallery and  to Best of type. Hope you like it. I wish I could get it to photography perfectly, the details on the Virgin are very sharp in hand, not as much in photos.

I have not updated in a while, my collection has expanded I just need more time to add.

I am lucky enough to get my third excellent example of a Thessalonica Lead Tetarteron of Alexius I . These are hard to come by in beautiful condition.

Thank You Stkp, it is an interesting time in the Eastern Roman Empire, money usage and production was abundant. The most used coinage for the empire in the 12th century was the tetarteron. Regardless , very little is known about them and only occasionally new information is added

The coins are currently listed as three denominations, the ones that were minted in Constantinople contained silver ( Not much 3-4 % but a billion trachy was 8%) those coins are thought to be the equivalent to an old  follis. The other two the tetarteron and a Half tetarteron.

I started another gallery just for trachea, Hyperpyron and Aspron Trachea. The Info is not complete yet and not everything is posted yet.

A few new pieces for the tetartera gallery.

A really nice Manuel I Comnenus

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-159847

A Latin tetarteron that is also in Best of Type gallery.

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-159568

And a nice John II Comnenus

The whole gallery has had some photos redone and I will continue to update it. I have several coins that will be added.

I hope this assists my fellow collectors.

You have a fantastic collection of Byzantine coins Simon. This was the first time that I have had a chance to look at your gallery and even though I do not collect coins in this area I have enjoyed looking at your coins. A really nice collection.

Thank you Alex.

Forum has the best resource for looking up coins when the poster adds tags for search. I have done my best to keep it accurate and good photos.

Have a great weekend.

Forum has the best resource for looking up coins when the poster adds tags for search.

The FORVM search engine searches both the file title and the description of the coin written by the poster. You would only have to provide Keywords if the information was not already in either of those.

Alex.

Thank You Mark, it was an all around nice condition coin that had been circulated. I consider it to be my best example.
The Constantinople issues are hard to find, they contained silver like the trachea but really only circulated in Constantinople.

My wife made this coin same type  that was only  VF/VG in to a necklace.
