Best of Type BYZANTINE ISAAC COMNENUS OF CYPRUS AG TETARTERON SBCV-1998

I just added another Tetarteron to the best of type gallery, this coinage was the everyday mans coin and was circulated for long periods of time. To find perfect examples ( Purse Coins) is very unusual because such a low denomination coin was rarely hoarded.

I believe this to be the best example I have seen on the market for overall beauty, I have another one with a beautiful obverse but poor reverse. It is hard to compare these coins with the earlier coinage of the Greeks and the Western Roman empire but art changes with time. He ruled Cyprus from 1184 to 1191.

I have chosen to not further clean this coin.
