Reference mistakes in the illustration of the RIC…

(1/1)

Windchild:
Still in my process to build a database on Carthage mint I just integrated the illustration at the end of the RIC VI for Carthago.
I went very surprised when I discovered that 2 pictures were improperly referenced.

The first one is the obv-rev picture of the 17b.
Normally 17b should be:

IMP C MAXIMIANVS P F AVG / FELIX AD-VENT AVGG NN / \ PKS

But if I’m not blind the presented coin is:

IMP MAXIMIANVS P F AVG (no C in sight…) and that mean a 19b not a 17b!

I have the same problem with the picture labelled 10, which is more surely a 13a…

Here is a pic of the so called 17b….

curtislclay:
19 Carthage coins illustrated, 2 mislabeled.  Hopefully the accuracy is better for other mints!
Of course any such detailed work is bound to include a fair number of mistakes.  I just correct them in my copy as I note them.  For Carthage, I had already noted that illustration 10 is actually 13a, but not that 17b is actually 19b.
