Can discoloration on this coin be cleaned?

I have a coin with this red discoloration on this coin be cleaned?  Seems to be on top or in place of the patina in certain areas.  Curious to know if there is a way to take that off and keep the patina or is that red color a patina of its own?

Hey Philip:  In my experience that red colored, sometimes rust looking, layer is beneath the green patina.  If you go through the red you'll be into  bare metal.  I recall there are other posts here that posit the red colored layered is the initial forming of the patina

That's exactly it.  Your patina is mottled, so there is nothing you can do.

Yes, it is.  Nice natural look like a tricolored beagle or King Charles spaniel!
