Hey my design is tied for second!  I like one with the Victory and the computer too.  And the other round one.  Heck, they are all great.

But, my favorite is clearly in the lead.

We have an award logo, Congrats Windchild

Windchild's design has won with more votes than all others combined so there is no need for a runoff.  As for our other contestants, thank you for your entries.  Windchild, check your Instant Messages, I have a few questions about your design.

Here are the pic at 125 and 100 pix.

My opinion is to keep the 150x150 as a display, and the winner of the awards would be free to choose smaller version for their website.

The 125x125 is still corect, I may be able to enhence the reading of the legend. 100x100 is becoming a bit small...

Due to family hardship (Dad passed away) and an increased workload, I have not been lurking around as much as I do in my off-season. I apologize for not being as active, especially on this topic.

I would like to comment that the chosen design is fabulous, and thank Windchild for time, effort and creativity involved. Outstanding!

This is a sample of 6 logo in 125*125 with the legend "For Numismatic Excellence" in various font. The first one is the original. My favourite is the last one: a balence between a sharp readable one and a bold one answering to the "FORVM AWARD" legend.

The second, the third and the last are the most legible, at least on this monitor.

The text on the 3rd one, upper right corner, stands out most clearly for me. (If you're taking votes)  ::)

I agree that the last is my favorite as well.

Question... since we are going with Gold, Silver and Bronze for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, will the figures holding the forvm change color to fit the award, or will two other designs be chosen from the original poll? Or neither?

Wow, outstanding work Windchild! The bottom legends of Gold-Silver-Bronze appear a bit fuzzy on my monitor, but it's probably my monitor.

I know Kevin is trying to get a chat meeting together within the next week to discuss business. Please be sure to bring the changes to the committees attention, to make sure we are all on the same page as to how we want to go foward, but be assured you have my vote on the changes!

Thanks for the work you have put into this.  Really a fantastic job, a credit to Forvm, and sincerely appreciated.

The three look great but there is the problem that the gold victories would be in the standard award, thus confusing the issue.  After our first annual awards, as you visit the sites it would look like everyone got first place except for one site that got silver and one bronze.  It is an interesting approach though and we in the committee will discuss it.  Perhaps a fourth unique color for the victories in the standard award, like patina green?  The original idea hatched between Joe and I was a gold, silver, or bronze bar with the year and perhaps one or two more identifying details added to the logo on the winning websites.  Anyways, the committee will discuss it.

Instead of "Gold, Silver, Bronze", perhaps you could put the year awarded in the appropriate color.  Let the Victories 'tell' what level was bestowed.  Just a thought...

Glad to see you're having fun with this!!  I hate to admit, but I got lost somewhere. What is "Regular"? I thought the award was given once a year, and the recipient either got the silver, gold or bronze.  So perhaps "Forvm Ancient Coins" receives the best or gold in 2004, and Silver in 2005, etc...

Or is the regular award given to those sites endorsed by the committee, and each year the top 3 of THOSE are awarded the colors??

It's not easy being me.  ::)

PS..I think I like the colored Victories best, with the addition of the laurel underneath.

Anyway, these keep getting better and better as you go Windchild.

No problem Peter, the way it will go is that any board member can IM a member of the award committee about a site they think should get the award.  The committee member reviews the site.  If satisfied, the site will have its own poll yes or no for all board members to decide.  A standard award is given to all sites that are approved in their polls.  Then, at the end of each year the most acclaimed sites that have received the standard award will be set up in a special competitive poll.  The highest vote grossing site gets gold, 2nd most voted silver, and third place bronze.
