Chris: What a lovely
Christmas greeting you just gave me. But Joe could do no more for me,
nor could all of you. It is not 'work' that I put in but rather (literally) re-creation: I mean, I'm retired, and
Forvm is my principal link to an ever-expanding and international group of people who share so many of my interests. It all started with
Doug Smith and
his web site (and all
his generosity to a beginner) ten years ago, and Luigi (tacrolimus) urged me to join
Forvm. That leaves out some others, of course. At first I was shy because of the art
history, but
Curtis helped me a lot with the
history and
numismatics, and Joe (and Jochen, too, and Gordian_Guy) were welcoming about the art
history, which sometimes really can be important to a better, more
complete understanding. I think I also
still owe thanks to the University of California, Berkeley, and to the American School of
Classical Studies and to the
ANS summer seminar (1958).
