Contratulations Joe!  Enjoy your retirement.  We will look for bigger and better things from FORVM although I don't know how things could get much bigger and better.  Thanks so much for everything!!

thanks for your service and congrats on the retirement. I would ask if you are going to pick up any new hobbies but I'm guessing I already know where your time will be spent  ;)

Reading about your retirement at 45, I'm a little envious but I'm sure you earned it.
I'm looking forward to FORVM's future now that you have more time to dedicate to it.

Congratulations!

Congratulations on a successful career!  I can imagine the mix of emotions retirement must entail.  I'll be doing the same myself soon.

Congratulations Joe. I retired completely in April and although I am good friends with several of my ex-colleagues I don't miss my work one little bit.
I don't have the free time I anticipated, however, due to my wife and children finding, quote "things you can do now that you're not working" unquote.  >:(

Well, its done.  The ceremony was very nice.  I will try to put up some pics.  I don't feel any different yet but probably will in a few weeks.  Thanks for all the kind words.

Joe,

Long distraction from the board means I  only just now saw the announcement of your retirement. Congratulations! Thank you, on behalf of us civilians, and long, happy hours to you and yours. My father was Army, and at the brother, stepson, brother-in-law level I'm surrounded by Jarheads.

Thanks again, too, for your help w/ the collection I was cataloguing and putting in order. It's now in viewable, storable, usable shape.

Best wishes,
Rebekah Smith

Joe it has been almost one year as a civilian, what are your feelings now, do you miss the Military? or are you happier as a large bussiness owner?

Best of Luck
Pete

It seems like my military career was a lifetime ago.

FORVM is definitely not a large business - it is small, very small.  The headquarters is my house.  I do like getting up in the morning and walking 30 feet to work

I miss the face-to-face human contact.  My wife and kids are great company, but it was nice to have more frequent in person conversations with other people.  Also, it is a bit stressful to be a business owner and rely on your business for your income.  Nothing happens as fast as you want it to and many things don't go as planned.

Overall, I like my new life and I am very happy with how it is going.  Thanks for asking.
