The DN should not bother you. Personally I do not like the coin .

I believe that it is a fake, of a Byzantine Follis (probably of Justinian I)

I would be more concerned that it has the same patina as the Greek coin you posted... Same seller???

Looks like a fantasy coin in some sort of mish-mash Romano-Byzantine style.

Do you have images of the side?  I wonder if that is a casting blob by the XO in the reverse exergue?

Ok, i have learned...

I guess in my mind i knew all along the roman coin wasnt real at sight, but, i thought... maybe after cleaning the letters i find out that they are deformed by sandpatina.. and... ah well, i just wanted to hold it t see it for real.

It was only € 5 the lot and... i have a nice replica of an Alexander III :). i'll put it in my pot of fakes (4 in now).

thnx all for sharing this experience with me...

Yes, completely fake and completely modern.

The DN is the abbreviation for 'Dominus Noster", "Our Lord", the standard imperial title from the fourth century (and before in some cases). It usually ends with "PF AVG", "Pius Felix Augustus"
