Titus and Sarapis

Although it's only January, I think my newest arrival will be one of favourites of the new year. https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-133841

I really adore these Flavian tets struck at Alexandria. They have a unique style all their own and my new addition is a great example of such. And how much more Egyptian can you get than Sarapis?

Thank you Sam! It's a pleasure sharing the coins with you kind folks.

Needless to say, I was very happy the private collector decided to sell the piece, they really don't come much better!

Great piece David!  I love these Alexandrite tet's!   Although not a die match almost certainly from the same hand as mine!

Thanks Jay!

It's likely the same engraver worked on both reverses, however, your obverse portrait seems to be in a slightly different style - mine is more 'rounded', yours more 'chiselled'. I really like your example!

Those type of Tetradrachms , served the purpose of providing a subsidiary coinage with Greek legends which formed the vehicle for Roman imperial propaganda throughout Egypt. On the reverse of these coins were placed the Egyptian Hellenized deities, as an indication of the goodwill of the Roman emperors towards Egypt.
