Unlisted Caracalla from Prusias ad Hypium
« on: December 26, 2008, 09:43:06 am »

From the portrait this is surely Caracalla laur. hd. r., AYRHLIOS ANTWNINOS / River-god Hypios reclining l. with water-plant, PROYSIEWN YPIOS, AE20, 4.34g.  RG 607.31, obv. not pictured, is a coin with quite similar legends, AYT M AYRHLIOS ANTWNINOS / PROYSIEWN HYPIOS, but AE28, and supposedly Marcus Aurelius, though not taken over in RPC 4, unlike RG 606.25 and RG 607.32.*  Anyone perhaps know what's become of RG 607.31?
