Hi
I really can't decide between Pat "Slokind" and Jochen : they are both helpful and knowledgable !!!
Curtis is my third choice just because he was member of the year last year, instead of what he would be in first place with them both.
I like so much those people who can spend time to share what they know, and not making you feeling they are wasting it.
Thank you all

Please, this is an important decision, vote!  It's importance is evident by the difficulty of the choices, all deserve recognition.

I wish I could vote more than once - there are too many wonderful people on the list.  If there were prize given to the winner and runner ups, I'd chip in.

Maybe we could pick three from the list and each could be for Different areas, Like Curtis for overall expertise on all Roman, Steve on Provincials and Luigi on all of the really hard to find"different style coins"

Just a  thought

Now I have seen we have forgotten to put Manzikert on the list. He really deserves a place on it. Each of his contributions was correct and was evidence of his wide and profounde knowledge.

Best regards

That same thought occurred to me a couple of days ago: how did we forget Manzikert?

Congratulations to Curtis Clay for being selected by a majority vote of our members as the Classical Numismatics Discussion Board Member of the Year for a second, and consecutive, time.  As a two-time recipient of this honor he is awarded the title Tribunus Plebis Perpetuus.  This is the greatest honor our members can bestow.  Congratulations Curtis Clay and thank you on behalf of FORVM and all the members of the board for your generous assistance and contributions to this community!

Further, as Imperator and Augustus, I declare a rule change for Classical Numismatics Discussion Board Member of the Year as follows:  When a member is awarded the title Tribunus Plebis Perpetuus (male) or Tribuna Plebis Perpetua (female), the runner up in the poll will be awarded the title Tribunus Plebis (male) or Tribuna Plebis (female).

In view of the results of the recent poll, which reflect the deep admiration and appreciation we universally feel for slokind (Prof. Patricia Lawrence), I have determined that this rule change will be retroactive to include the 2005 Member of the Year awards.  Prof. Patricia Lawrence is therefore awarded the title Tribuna Plebis.  Congratulations Patricia Lawrence and thank you on behalf of FORVM and all the members of the board for your generous assistance and contributions to this community!

No doubt this rule change and this result is unexpected and extraordinary but I felt it absolutely necessary and I expect most of you will agree the result is extremely pleasing!

Thank you all!  I can hardly believe it, since, as I said in a PM to someone, I am not a full-fledged numismatist, and four or five friends (all members of this Forvm), besides Behrendt Pick could I only thank him, have been my teachers.  Until 1999 I only dabbled.  I kept thinking, I am like the Foreign Film at the Oscars.
I only would make a claim for my discipline, Art and Archaeology.  It is not nothing to try to be at least half masters of the whole.  It is not at this moment academically a majority trend, but trends shift and change, and the integration of disciplines in some depth will keep them all alive.  Classical art historians are the ones who cannot ignore any sister discipline.
By the way, by 'full-fledged' above, I meant capable of solo sustained flight.  I also know that Luigi (Tacrolimus) is himself very good in art and archaeology, nor is he the only one, though the breadth of the subject makes it for anyone a lifelong pursuit.

I am, as I think all of the Forum membership, very pleased to see the outcome of this year's poll.  I think most, if not all, have advanced our own understanding of the coinage and context of the ancient world through the generous contributions of these two excellant scholars.  Kudos to the both of you and thank you!!
