Circular domed bronze stud for identification
« on: April 26, 2023, 06:20:11 pm »
Hi,

Having a clear out of boxes of all sorts of bits and came across this. Bronze, circular studded "mount". Two "2 ears" present, but there is evidence that they may have been present around the circular boss. The diameter of the actual circle is 35mm, the height of the mount excluding the single stud at the back is 15mm.

Can anybody tell me what the culture is and point me to comparable material please?

Regards,

Mauseus

I have found lots of round domed studs, often with protrubences like on yours (sometime bigger) and plain designs, in Balkan lots and they are actually quite late - Ottoman-era clothing decorations.

Not enecssariyl what yours is but possible...

Hi,
Thanks. It came in a huge box of all sorts from the Balkans that contained lots of protomoney of a range of types through to two badges from m a 1970s medical conference. Being potentially Ottoman is not a surprise.
Cheers,

Mauseus
