ANA Museum Exhibit
« on: December 02, 2006, 04:06:30 pm »

The ANA Museum in Colorado Springs currently has an exhibit running through August 2007 portraying ancient coinage.  I haven't gotten down to see it yet, I'm hoping to find the time after finals during break.  Info from the ANA November newsletter is below.  Has anyone been to see this exhibit yet.  It looks pretty good.

The Die Is Cast:
Money of the Ancient World

There has been an overwhelmingly positive response to the ANA Money Museum's new exhibit, The Die Is Cast: Money of the Ancient World.

Visitors are amazed to see an entire gallery filled with the art, architecture and coinage of the classical world.

The exhibit is built around two temples, and celebrates the great ancient civilizations of Greece and Rome. Featuring over 300 artifacts from the 7th century BC to the 5th century AD, "Money of the Ancient World" explores the design and use of early coinage and its effect on the lives of ancient people.

Visitors can learn where and why money was invented, its rapid spread throughout the Greek Empire, and how the Romans used coinage as the ultimate propaganda tool.

The Die Is Cast: Money of the Ancient World will run through August, 2007.
