Judaea Capta of the day
« on: March 19, 2021, 08:40:15 am »
I've wanted one of these Titus Judaea Capta coins for a long time.  Unfortunately many of these types have been tooled to death.  This one is untouched.  Although listed as C2 in RIC, they can be difficult to obtain because they are so sought after.  I'm happy to add it as a companion to my Vespasian types.

Minted 8 years after the destruction of Jerusalem, it was an important symbol for the Flavians, and would have reminded everyone that Titus was next in line to succeed Vespasian.
