Domitian PONT denarius

I am thrilled to ad this one to my collection. I have been seeking the PONT denarii of Domitian's first year as Augusts for the last several years.It has been about 1.5 years since I have added one. They are all rare and seem to disappear quickly when offered for sale. The speculation is that the PONT was used before Domitian was officially PM. There first year of Domitian denarii is really interesting. First there ia the wide variety of portraits. Some seem a little crude or poorly executed. On the other hand some are fantastic. This coin is one of the latter.

It’s not easy to find an ancient coin which is both rare and in good condition. It’s a great piece!

Congratulations Andrew,

this one had really escaped me!

Thankfully I was able to pick up another absolute rarity from the same seller yesterday.

I will post it when it arrives to me.
