The style reminds me on the other fakes we haev discussed before and no or artificial patina/toning.
On reverse the L (at about 2 o´clock) looks like a Greek Gamma.
Legend should be POPVLI and not POPV :Greek_Gamma: I
Not sure if there is something like at ghost line ar 11´o clock on reverse near rim or if the picture is misleading.
Other opinions and if available die matches or die links are very much appreciated!

Göttingen has a follis with same reverse:

You are probably right. It is like feel of something similar.

Lettering is sloppy. Look at the "A" in ANT. Just reversed "V"

I also see this ghost line but we look at the same picture so we could be both deceived.

Din you are absolutely right! Congratulations on your hawk eye! I just found a coin that is a link between this reverse and the characteristic Diocletian obverse that has already appeared on coins identified as forgeries.

Funny thing is, I found this coin on my own site (there are almost 14,000 coins now, so I can't remember them all). I must have added it a long time ago and then recognized it as an engraver's error in obverse legend ("C" omitted). Now of course I will have to change that description.

There's something wrong with the U.Gottingen collection ... this is now at least the 4th fake from this source that has been found there.

Thank you all for your help!!!!!

Another example or already known specimen differently photographed? The given weight is slightly different: 9.13 g - 9.91 g

And there is another die-link.

Obverse taken from fake Diocletian posted by Dix and reverse from fake Jovian. This forger apparently shuffled his dies like a deck of cards. So be vigilant. There are probably more interesting fakes to find.

Do we have this obverse die of Galerius Maximianus already in or database?
Same reverse die, same die flaw over the V and under the Z.
I am bidding on it, so if they will be notified I can not buy it, I have already some fakes of this serie and want to have all.
Die links and more die matches would be very much appreciated.
And I am of course always very much impressed about the knowledge and thankful for the help of our members here.

I have only this reverse with obverse of Diocletian. Four properly paired as ANTIOCHIA 54a and one "unlisted".
Did you notice that for this ANTIOCHIA 55b the given weight is only 6.51 g?

I havn't seen that one - nice catch!
It's interesting to see the same reverse die with POPV-LI rather than POPV- :Greek_Gamma: I
This seems to be an Antioch style bust, which was previously missing (we had Alexandria busts paired with this reverse).
Presumably we'll also find this obverse paired with some of the other reverses in this "mix n match" set.

I have ordered this one, it seems to be an obverse die match to the one in first post and so on.
The reverse die is very close to a reverse die, which we do know already from this fake series.
Are the reverse dies identical or only very similar and differences due to striking?
(I think only similar there are some differences but they have much in common, recut reverse die?)

Only very similar. And very soft. I believe that recut die should give more sharp coins.

Here are my fakes
Nice fakes :) Could you give the source and the data of each coin?
-
I think probably just difference in strike
Here's another for comparison

Thank you all, I bought all of these fakes as authentic (added pedigree in previous post), if you notify them, that they are fake, they will in most cases withdraw them and then you can not buy anymore ^^
I am still curious if they are all modern hand cut die fakes or transfer die and recut transfer die fakes.
I haven´t seen so far any of these with a real authentic ancient patina, only stripped ones without patina and some stripped ones had artificial toning or that black or green encrustraion/dirt/paint on them.

added pedigree in previous post
Thanks!
Aureo Calico Auktion 394 los 1268 Maximianus
Is this Maximianus connected with other fakes?
