Inheritance of the Day
« on: July 11, 2012, 05:49:54 pm »
I expect it is a fairly common occurance/experience that soon after you start collecting coins the other members of your family start thinking that you are bit weird for getting excited over a little disc of metal that you can't spend. And then either because of their love for you or taking the opportunity to clean out some old tat (or both) they hand over an small tin/pouch/money bag of old coins, collected by someone else in the family during their lifetime of  travels. Mostly they will be worn victorian penny's (or other coins of a similar age depending on where you live) and only worth keeping for playing poker or 21 at Christmas but occasionally the odd little gem sneaks in. This is a nice little George III sixpence which was given to me by my father but originally collected by one of my great uncles.

Nice. I like some of the old British coins too.

I like the old British coins, too. The Twopence piece with 56 grammes is amazing.
On  your coin I like George's portrait with his fat eyes.
