Ancient buckle?

Hey folks!

I dug up smth unusual. Location is Western Ukraine. The only theory that I have from one local forum is that this is an ancient buckle, years 500-700 AD, and that's just theory. Anyone familiar with similar findings? Any ideas what this is?

Yes, I think you are roughly correct on the dating.  The type appears to be a local variation of contemporary Byzantine buckles.
