Coins of the Nezak Huns Article

(1/1)

Virgil H:
This relates to a discussion in another thread about coinage of the Western Turks in Afghanistan, I have an interest in any coins from this area, Here is my Nezak Hun coin in my gallery:

I just found this article by Klaus Vondrovec called Coinage of the Nezak. In it, he also discusses the Western Turks some. I found it a useful article, especially as I cannot afford his book

Simeon D:
Relevant digital exhibition from the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, https://data1.geo.univie.ac.at/projects/dasantlitzdesfremden/coins%3Flanguage=en.html. Wonderful visualization of all the different portrait types and their progression from Sasanian models.

Virgil H:
I am not sure how I missed this in February, Simeon. That is a wonderful site, thanks for sharing it. I believe this is the institution Vondrovec is associated with, And in the meantime since I posted the above in 2023, I have purchased the two volume book set that I consider the best coin books I have ever seen.

Thanks again,
Virgil
