Ancient Coin Forum / Re: This is crazy, Richard Beale Arrest at NYINC
« Last post by DAVID R4 on Today at 11:14:53 am »
My earlier post on this thread was not generated by AI. My local newspaper contained a photo of a holed gold Eid mar connection w the story of the arrest in January,  so I was admittedly mistaken when I referenced it as “ holed” in my post.  The point of my post is that the Greek “ “official” quoted at the time of the arrest that the coin was probably dropped by a soldier in Greece seemed to me to be unlikely if it was holed.  I keep reading that it was “looted” from Greece. Does anyone know the true story?  I’d like to hear it.

Roman Coins / Re: Augustus Copper- with a Crown?
« Last post by Ben C4 on Today at 08:42:46 am »
Thanks Kevin and Curtis! I was thinking the same thing recently- it must have been very interesting for the populace in adopting new coinage so (relatively) frequently considering the rate of turnover among the caesars during certain periods. I remember reading an opinion that the confusion between asses and dupondii might not have been an issue for some years after they were struck on account of the golden color of a dupondius. That said, I've heard certain emperors would also randomly have lower denomination coins made in this same metal, which would undoubtedly lead to confusion.

I jeszcze oczko Najjaśniejszemu Panu podciągnęli i pole awersu umyli...

Z marnym rezultatem. Sprzedało się to brzydactwo za 320 euro.

Bywa i tak.
