Nikolaus I. of Russia
Jochen:
Hi to all with Russian knowledge!
Here are 2 other not ancient coins I have questions about:
(The kyrillic letters I have transcribed to latin letters!)
1. 5 Rubel gold, Nikolaus I., 1836. Obv. shows:
tschistago zolota i zolotnik 39 dolci
2. 5 Rubel gold, Alexander III., 1889. Obv. shows:
imperator i samodermets wserossinskie
Anyone there who can translate this Russian legends?
Regards,
Jochen
(These are the last not ancient coins I post, I promise!)

About the fisrt coin it's 1 zolotn(ik) and 39 doljei [it's not a c but je]
It is referred to the weight of the coins
1zolotnik = 4.27 grams
1 zolotnik = 96 doljei
Indeed the coin weight is 6.544 grams, 0.917 of gold. So the bullion is exactly 1 zolotnik and 39 doljei ;)
Jochen:
Thanks again!
Jochen
