Greek Coins / Re: Unknown Alexander The Great tetradrachm type?
« Last post by Arados on Today at 11:38:47 am »
I was going to answer you yesterday but time ran out during the evening. I am in total agreement with Curtis regarding authenticity and that your coin is more than likely unpublished. I also searched the Pella website and painstakingly went through the symbols and I think i see iconographic similarities to coins of Chios and Western Asia. I have separated the individual letters of the symbol seen on your coin (OMY & K), so hopefully this will help you in part to place your coin within a certain group.

Hope this was of some help.

Regards
Martin

You are right, there is also a coin from Caesarea minted under Trajan with year ΙϚ: https://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/coins/3/3143
Indeed this seems to be the better choice  :).

The straight-line distance between the two American towns in the OP is 885 kilometres.

The straight-line distance between the original Rome and the original Carthage is just 587 kilometres - and that's mostly over open sea.

Books and References / Updated Pages in Schaefer’s Binders
« Last post by Ken W2 on Yesterday at 10:38:37 pm »
Anyone know what it means in Schaefer’s when examples shown on the initial page of an issue are covered up on the “updated” pages? For example in binder 13 examples of Cr. 529/4 shown on page 187 are covered up by clippings on pages 187-1 and 187-2. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone seen a coin of Gaius Nymphidius Sabinus?

Unless your software will help people buy coins from FORVM ANCIENT COINS (and it wont), this really isn't the place to discuss it.

Crude one but in my opinion could be Hadrian from Antioch.
