i wonder what this dot/pellet in the center is?

Bust of Hadrian, laureate, draped on left shoulder, right

Hadrian, togate, standing left, holding roll in left hand and extending right hand to woman, draped, kneeling right and holding globe in left hand.

I think this is clearly where the compass point incised the die when the
design was being prepared and then cut. Usually this point is obscured
or even removed by a design feature, but there are a few exceptions.
This is an excellent example!

Because on most reverse types the design covers the center of the die and the dot which was presumably originally there has been eradicated!

Changing a bit the topic... what is the patch on the Hadrian bust of the specimen on auction?
Is it a filling made with some other material to close a corrosion hole?

i think there was corrosion lomb that gave the coloring
